Texas Grass Fed Farms, LLC is a Texas limited liability company. We sell USDA-inspected beef by the share for local pickup in McKinney, Texas.

We are not the ranch

We do not raise cattle. We source from a small group of partner ranchers across Texas whose practices we have reviewed, and we sell their beef under our own name. When we describe how our cattle are raised, we are describing our partner ranchers' practices, not our own operations.

How we substantiate our product claims

We make specific claims about how our cattle are raised. Those claims rest on three things.

First, every partner rancher provides us a written affidavit covering their practices. Second, we visit the ranches and see those practices for ourselves. Third, the same affidavits support the claims on our labels, and the USDA reviews and approves those labels before we can use them.

We rely on those affidavits and our own inspections in good faith. If a rancher's practices change, our claims change with them.

What we mean by our claims:

  • 100% grass-fed and grass-finished. Cattle raised on Texas pasture with rotational grazing. No feedlots. No confinement. Never grain-finished to fatten them up at the end. Just grass, the way it's supposed to be.
  • No antibiotics. No antibiotics administered at any point. An animal that requires antibiotic treatment for its own welfare is treated and removed from our program.
  • No added growth hormones. No hormones administered for growth promotion.
  • No mRNA vaccines. No mRNA-based vaccines administered.
  • No glyphosate. Our partner ranchers do not use glyphosate. Not on the pastures our cattle graze, and not anywhere else on their operations.
  • Product of USA, Texas raised. Born, raised, harvested, and processed in Texas, under USDA inspection.

Federal regulations require that all beef sold in the United States be raised without added hormones during the withdrawal period, and no beef may contain antibiotic residues above established tolerances. Our claims describe practices across the animal's life, not just at harvest.

Weights and pricing

Beef shares are priced per pound of hanging weight, also called hot carcass weight, and not by the weight of the packaged beef you take home. Hanging weight is determined at a USDA-inspected processing facility and is not known until the animal is processed. Your take-home weight will be less than your hanging weight portion after aging, trim, and bone removal.

Weights, yields, and cut availability shown anywhere on this site are estimates based on typical animals. They are not guarantees. Our How We Price Your Beef Share page explains the method in full.

Health and nutrition

Any statements on this site about the nutritional properties of beef, including discussions of fatty acid profiles, nutrient density, or dietary approaches, have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. Our products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

Nothing on this site, including our blog, recipes, and cooking guides, is medical or nutritional advice. If you have a medical condition or dietary restriction, talk to your doctor or a registered dietitian.

Food safety and handling

We sell raw, frozen beef. Raw meat and poultry can carry bacteria that cause illness if the product is mishandled or undercooked.

The USDA recommends cooking whole cuts of beef to a minimum internal temperature of 145°F followed by a three-minute rest, and ground beef to 160°F, measured with a food thermometer. Our cooking guides discuss temperatures for texture and eating quality, and some of those temperatures fall below USDA recommendations. Cooking below the recommended temperature is your decision and carries some risk, particularly for young children, older adults, pregnant women, and anyone with a weakened immune system.

Once your share is handed to you at pickup, safe handling, storage, thawing, and cooking are your responsibility.

Photography and content

Photographs on this site are representative. Many are stock images showing grass-fed cattle, ranch settings, and beef cuts, and they may not depict our specific cattle, our partner ranches, or the cuts in your share. Packaged weights, cut appearance, and marbling vary from animal to animal.

Customer reviews and testimonials reflect individual experiences and are not a guarantee that you will have the same experience.
