Refund policy

Applies to our quarter, half, and whole beef shares: 100% grass-fed, grass-finished Texas beef, priced by hanging weight, packaged frozen, and picked up in McKinney, TX. There is no shipping.

1. Deposits, cancellations, and the lock-in date

Your deposit reserves your share and lets us plan. We fill each processing batch with several animals, and for quarter and half shares we match you with other buyers to make up a whole animal, so a late cancellation can leave another family, and a whole animal, stranded. That is why we keep deposits firm.

How cancellations work:

  • If you cancel before your batch's lock-in date, your deposit is not refunded as cash. Instead, we provide you beef equal to the value of your deposit: the amount of beef your deposit covers for the size you reserved. This beef credit does not expire.

  • After the lock-in date, your share is committed, matched with other buyers, and scheduled for processing, and the order and deposit can no longer be cancelled or changed.

  • Changing to a smaller share (before lock-in only). You can change to a smaller share any time before your batch's lock-in date. The smaller share's price applies and your deposit is applied to it. If your deposit ends up larger than your final total once your share is priced by hanging weight, we refund the difference to your card. Shares cannot be changed after the lock-in date.

  • The lock-in date is set once your batch fills and processing is scheduled. It is typically about three weeks before the processing date, and we will tell you your batch's date.

If we cannot fulfill your order. If Texas Grass Fed Farms is unable to source, process, or deliver your share for any reason on our end (for example, an animal is lost, the plant is delayed, or a batch does not fill), we will move your deposit to the next available batch or, if you would rather not wait, refund 100% of everything you have paid back to your card.

2. How the balance works

Your share is priced on the animal's hanging weight (hot carcass weight), which isn't known until the animal is processed. Your deposit is applied toward the total. Once the hanging weight is confirmed, we calculate your final price and send you a final invoice. The remaining balance (final total minus your deposit) is charged to the card on file within 3 business days of that invoice, and in all cases before pickup. By reserving a share, you authorize us to charge the balance to your card on file. If your final total would run above the cap shown for your share size on our How We Price Your Beef Share page, we will contact you to confirm before charging. If that charge does not go through, the balance is due in full before you can pick up your share.

3. Missing or incorrectly cut items

Because your share comes from a single animal that has already been processed, we cannot re-cut or replace an individual item. If something that should be part of your share is missing or was cut incorrectly, contact us within 72 hours of pickup and we will review it. Where warranted, we may credit or refund the value of that item, at our discretion.

Organ meats (tongue, cheek, liver, heart, kidney, oxtail) are not guaranteed: they are not always available and are not part of your hanging weight.

4. No returns on frozen beef shares

Frozen beef shares cannot be returned under any circumstance, at any point.

5. No refunds after pickup

Once you have picked up your share, there are no full or partial refunds for quarter, half, or whole cow orders in any capacity.

6. Product and preparation

We sell a frozen product. We are not responsible for outcomes in how the product is thawed, stored, or cooked after pickup. Grass-finished beef is leaner than grain-finished beef, so it cooks faster and is easy to overcook; most complaints about toughness come down to overcooking. We provide guidance to help you get the best result.

Any concern about product condition should be raised within 72 hours of pickup by text or email. We do not offer replacements. If we determine a concern is warranted, any resolution is a possible credit or refund of value, at our sole discretion, and is not guaranteed.

7. Pickup

Shares are pickup only, in McKinney, TX, on a scheduled Saturday. We announce the date once the animal is processed and the hanging weight is confirmed, then we meet you in McKinney to hand off your beef, packaged frozen.

Bring a cooler or insulated bags for the drive home. Once your share leaves our hands at pickup, keeping it cold and getting it to your freezer is your responsibility. Because the product is handed to you frozen and in good condition, we are not responsible for thawing or spoilage that happens after pickup.

8. Missed pickups

Pickup happens on your batch's scheduled Saturday, at the time and place we give you. Please plan to be there. Our refrigerated storage is only available through the Monday after pickup, so anything past your Saturday pickup has to be resolved within that short window.

If you cannot make your scheduled pickup, contact us before pickup day so we can work out one of these:

  • A later handoff, through the Monday after pickup, if we are able to arrange a time. This may include a handling fee.

  • Delivery, for an additional charge quoted to you and paid before your share leaves us.

  • Courier, arranged and quoted separately, and paid by you.

If your share is not picked up by the Monday after your scheduled pickup, and you have not arranged delivery or a courier, it is forfeited, because we no longer have a way to keep it cold. Your share is paid in full before pickup, and a forfeited share is not refunded or credited in any amount. You remain responsible for the full price of the share, and no refund, credit, or replacement is given.

By reserving a share, the customer agrees to these policies through our Terms of Service.
