Terms of service

These Terms work with our Refund & Cancellation Policy, our Shipping Policy, our How We Price Your Beef Share page, and our Privacy Policy. Each of those is part of these Terms.

1. Who we are

Texas Grass Fed Farms, LLC ("Texas Grass Fed Farms," "we," "us," "our") is based in McKinney, Texas. We connect Texas families with beef from partner ranchers across Texas, sold by the share for local pickup in McKinney. We are not the ranch: we source from ranchers we work with and do not raise the cattle ourselves.

2. What we sell

We sell USDA-inspected beef by the share: quarter, half, and whole shares of a single carcass. Our beef is 100% grass-fed and grass-finished, never grain-finished, raised with no antibiotics and no added growth hormones, and it is Product of USA, Texas raised: born, raised, harvested, and processed in Texas, USA, under USDA inspection. Shares are sold frozen and are picked up only in McKinney, Texas. We do not ship.

3. How ordering works: the monthly cycle

We run on a monthly cycle. Orders placed by the 15th of the month are grouped into that month's batch and are submitted for processing and pickup the following month.

The 15th is the order cutoff and the lock-in date. Once the 15th passes, your batch is set, your share is committed and matched with other buyers, and your order cannot be cancelled or changed.
Minimum batch. We generally need at least four shares to fill a batch. If a batch does not reach that number, we may move it to the following month or cancel it, at our discretion. We may also run a smaller batch if it makes sense to do so. If we move or cancel your batch, Section 13 applies.
Deposits. You reserve a share by paying a fixed deposit set by share size and shown on that share's product page. Placing a deposit commits us to source a share for you and lets us plan processing. For quarter and half shares, we match you with other buyers to make up a whole carcass.
What you are buying. You are buying USDA-inspected grassfed beef by the portion after processing. You are not buying or co-owning a live animal.
Timing. Processing follows the cutoff once the total number of animals is finalized with ranchers and processing is scheduled. Pickup is typically two to three weeks after processing, depending on how many animals are in the batch, aging time, any value-added services, and scheduling at the processing facility. We confirm your pickup date once your batch is scheduled.

4. Cut sheets

Quarter shares are cut to our standard cut sheet. Cuts are not customizable on a quarter share. The standard cut list is published on the product page so you know what you are getting before you order.

Half and whole shares are cut to your specifications. Your cut sheet is due by the 22nd of the month, seven days after the order cutoff. If we do not receive your cut sheet by the 22nd, we apply our standard cut sheet to your share so the batch can move forward on schedule. Once your cut sheet is submitted, selections are final and cannot be changed.

5. Pricing, hanging weight, and payment

Your share is priced on the animal's hanging weight (hot carcass weight), which is not known until the animal is processed. The per-pound rate and the deposit amount for each share size are shown on the product pages. Our How We Price Your Beef Share page explains the method, the typical take-home yield, and price examples for light, average, and heavy animals. Your per-pound rate is locked at the rate in effect on your deposit date.

Your deposit is applied toward your total. Once the hanging weight is confirmed, we calculate your final total and send an invoice for the remaining balance (your final total minus your deposit). You pay that balance by entering your credit or debit card on the invoice. We do not store your card information and we do not charge you automatically.

Your balance is due within 3 business days of the invoice, and in all cases no later than 48 hours before your scheduled pickup, whichever comes first. Your share is released to you once the balance is paid. We do not release partial orders.

If your balance is unpaid 14 days after the invoice date and we have not agreed to another arrangement with you in writing, your order is forfeited, your deposit is retained, and we may sell your share to another buyer. Storage costs incurred while we hold an unpaid share may be charged to you.

Because your share is priced by the pound of hanging weight, a heavier animal means more beef and a higher total, and a lighter animal means less beef and a lower total, always at the same per-pound rate you locked in. 6. Value-added products and extra processing

Some items go beyond the standard cut, wrap, and freeze steps included in your per-pound rate. They are ordered on your cut sheet, priced separately, and shown as their own line on your invoice.

Value-added products are sausage, flavored ground beef, hamburger patties, and beef bacon. These are available on half and whole shares only. Quarter shares cannot order them, because quarters come as our standard selection, sharing a side with another buyer.

Minimum order. Each sausage variety and each flavored ground beef variety carries a 25 lb minimum.
These come out of your ground beef. Sausage, flavored ground, and patties are all made from ground. Every pound you order is a pound of ground beef you do not receive. A half share yields roughly 75 lbs of ground in total, so three varieties at 25 lbs each uses all of it.
If your selections exceed what the animal produces, we fill them in the order listed on your cut sheet and the remainder comes back as ground beef.
Bacon comes from the navel (belly) and is all or nothing. The quantity is whatever the animal yields; you cannot specify pounds.
Not refundable. Once a cut sheet is submitted, value-added products cannot be cancelled, changed, or refunded. They are made to your order and cannot be sold to anyone else. Your last opportunity to change them is the cut sheet deadline on the 22nd.

Extra processing costs cover soup bones and hamburger patties, charged by the pound. The charge is for labor, not for the beef, which you have already paid for by the hanging pound. Soup bones and patties take cutting, forming, or packaging beyond what is included in your rate. The soup bone charge applies only to bones packaged on their own; bone-in cuts carry no extra charge.

How and when you pay. Value-added and extra processing charges appear as a separate line on your invoice, alongside your hanging-weight balance and your deposit credit.

Prices for value-added products and extra processing are shown on the cut sheet and are subject to change. The prices in effect when you submit your cut sheet apply to your order. Ordering these items does not delay your pickup.

7. Pricing errors

We work to keep prices, deposit amounts, and product information accurate, but errors happen. If a share, deposit, or rate is listed at an incorrect price, we may cancel or correct the affected order, even after it has been confirmed. If we cancel, we refund everything you have paid on that order. If we correct the price, we will tell you before we proceed and you may cancel for a full refund. A listed price that is obviously wrong does not bind us.

8. Our right to refuse or cancel an order

We may refuse or cancel any order, in whole or in part, at our discretion. Reasons include suspected resale or commercial use, inaccurate or unreachable contact information, payment problems, quantities that are out of line with household use, supply or processing constraints, or abusive conduct toward our team or our partners. If we cancel an order for any reason on our end, we refund everything you have paid on that order.

9. Weights, yields, and cut availability

Animal sizes vary by breed and by animal, so packaged weights are estimates, not guarantees. Your final take-home weight depends on the hanging weight and the cuts you choose, and is typically 50 to 55% of your hanging-weight portion after aging, trim, and bone removal. Organ meats (tongue, cheek, liver, heart, kidney, oxtail) and certain other items are not always available and are not part of your hanging weight. We do not guarantee any specific cut, weight, or yield.

10. Personal and household use

Shares are sold for your personal and household use. You are welcome to share, split, or give away portions of your share with family, friends, and neighbors. You may not resell your share or any part of it, and you may not use it in a restaurant, retail operation, catering business, meal service, or any other food business, without our written consent.

This is not about controlling what you do with your beef. Our USDA inspection and labeling cover retail sale by us to you. Commercial resale downstream can create licensing and inspection obligations for the reseller, and we are not able to extend our coverage to commercial resale activities.

11. Pickup

Shares are pickup only, in McKinney, Texas, on a scheduled Saturday. See our Shipping Policy for pickup details, including who may collect on your behalf, what to bring, and what happens if you cannot make your scheduled day. The financial consequences of an uncollected share are governed by our Refund & Cancellation Policy.

12. Product, handling, and preparation

We sell a frozen product. Once your share is handed to you at pickup, keeping it cold, storing it, thawing it, and preparing it are your responsibility. Grass-finished beef is leaner than grain-finished beef and cooks faster, so it is easy to overcook. We provide guidance to help you get the best result, but we are not responsible for outcomes from thawing, storage, or cooking after pickup.

13. Cancellations and refunds

Cancellations, credits, and refunds are governed by our Refund & Cancellation Policy, incorporated into these Terms by reference. In short: you may cancel any time before the order is finalized and submitted on 15th of the month. After the 15th your order cannot be cancelled or changed. There are no returns or refunds after pickup. If we cannot fulfill your order for any reason on our end, we will move your deposit to the next available batch or, if you prefer not to wait, refund 100% of everything you have paid.

14. Eligibility, your contact information, and communications

You must be at least 18 years old to place an order.

You must give us a working email address and a mobile phone number that can receive text messages, and keep them current. This is not a formality. Your invoice, your cut sheet request, your pickup date, and any problem with your batch all reach you through those two communication channels, and a share cannot be scheduled or released without them. If we cannot reach you with the information you gave us, we will cancel your order and refund your deposit in full rather than hold a share for someone we cannot contact.

By placing an order, you agree to receive order-related communications from us by email and text, including order confirmations, cut sheet requests, invoices, pickup details, and notices about your share. These are part of your transaction and are not marketing.

Marketing messages are separate. You may opt in to marketing texts at checkout, and you may opt out at any time by replying STOP. Opting out of marketing does not affect the order-related messages described above, which we need to send in order to fill your order. Message and data rates may apply.

15. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

Except as expressly stated, and to the fullest extent permitted by law, our products and services are provided "as is," and we disclaim the implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose as to quality, yield, exact weights, and cut expectations.

Nothing in these Terms disclaims or limits liability for personal injury or death, gross negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot be limited or waived under applicable law, including the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices–Consumer Protection Act.

Subject to the exclusions above, and to the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to an order is limited to the amount you paid for that order.

16. Governing law and dispute resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.

Before filing anything, please contact us at orders@texasgrassfedfarms.com so we can try to resolve the matter directly. Most problems can be sorted out in a phone call.

Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or your order will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Collin County, Texas, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there. Either party may instead bring a qualifying claim in a Texas justice court (small claims), where venue is determined by the Texas Rules of Civil Procedure. Texas justice courts hear claims up to $20,000.

You and Texas Grass Fed Farms each waive any right to a jury trial and each waive the right to bring or participate in a class action or class-wide proceeding. If any part of this section is found unenforceable, the rest of the section remains in effect.

17. Events beyond our control (force majeure)

We are not liable for any failure or delay caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including animal loss, illness or disease, drought or weather, processor delays or closures, and supply disruptions. Where such an event prevents us from delivering your share, Section 13 applies: we move your deposit to the next batch or refund 100% of what you have paid.

18. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The version in effect when you place your order applies to that order, and we archive each version.

19. General

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remain in effect (severability). These Terms, together with our Refund & Cancellation Policy, Shipping Policy, Privacy Policy, and the information on our product and pricing pages, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding your order and replace any prior understandings. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign your order or these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a sale or reorganization of the business.

20. Privacy

Your personal information is handled as described in our Privacy Policy. Payment card data is processed and stored by our payment processor using industry-standard tokenization; we do not store full card numbers ourselves.
