SHIPPING & PICKUP POLICY
We do not ship. Beef shares are local pickup only, in McKinney, Texas.
Your pickup day
Pickup happens on a scheduled Saturday afternoon, two to three weeks after processing, depending on the size of the batch, aging time, any value-added services, and scheduling at the plant.
Rather than have everyone arrive at once, we assign each customer an arrival window. Windows generally fall between 12:00 PM and 6:00 PM. We confirm your date, your window, and the location once your batch is scheduled, and we send it by email and text.
Please arrive within your window, and reply to confirm when we send it. Windows are what keep the line short. If yours does not work for you, tell us when we send it and we will move you if we can.
Your balance must be paid before pickup. Your share is released to you once the balance is paid. We do not release partial orders.
What to expect at pickup
Your share comes packed frozen in sealed boxes, labeled with your name. Bring gloves if you plan to move packages out of the boxes; they are cold enough to be uncomfortable to handle bare-handed.
How you transport your beef is up to you. Plan for your drive and bring whatever coolers, insulated bags, or blankets you want. Once your share is handed to you, keeping it frozen on the way to your freezer is your responsibility, and we are not responsible for thawing, softening, or spoilage after that point.
A quarter share takes up more room than most people expect. Plan for more space than you think you need, and bring help for a half or whole share.
At pickup we confirm your name and your box count, and we ask you to sign for them. That takes a few seconds and keeps the line moving. Inside your boxes is a packing slip listing everything in your share.
Checking your share at home
Your boxes are packed and sealed frozen, so the place to check your share is at your freezer, not in the parking lot. When you get home, go through your packages against the packing slip.
If something is missing or was cut incorrectly, contact us within 72 hours of pickup at orders@texasgrassfedfarms.com or 469-809-8098. Our Refund & Cancellation Policy explains how we handle it.
Someone else can collect for you
You can send someone else to collect your share. There is no charge for this. Let us know in advance who is coming, and have them bring photo ID matching the name you gave us. We release the share to that person and the handoff is complete.
This is the easiest fix when something comes up, so use it. A neighbor with a truck on Saturday morning solves most scheduling problems.
If you cannot make your pickup day
Life happens. Contact us at orders@texasgrassfedfarms.com or 469-809-8098 as soon as you know, ideally before pickup day. The earlier we hear from you, the more options we have. Here is how we work it out, in order:
-
Send someone in your place. Free, as described above. This is always the best option.
-
Arrange a later handoff. We will schedule another time to get your share to you, up to 14 days after your scheduled Saturday. Because this means a separate trip and pulling your share back out of cold storage, a $95 rescheduling and rehandling fee applies. The fee is charged once per handoff, not per day.
-
Delivery. In some cases we may be able to deliver your share, or arrange a courier. This is at our discretion, is not guaranteed, and depends on distance and timing. Where we deliver, you pay a delivery fee quoted in advance, in place of the $95 rehandling fee. When we arrange a courier, you pay the courier's actual cost plus the $95 fee, in advance. Risk of loss passes to you at handoff, whether that handoff is to you or to a courier, including any thawing or damage after that point.
The fee exists because a second trip costs us real time and cold storage handling. It does not apply when someone collects on your behalf on your scheduled Saturday, which is why we would rather you use that option.
The 14-day collection deadline
Your share must be collected within 14 days of your scheduled Saturday. This is a hard deadline, not a holding period we offer. Past pickup day, your beef moves into rented cold storage at our cost, and after 14 days it is treated as abandoned. What that means for your money is covered in our Refund & Cancellation Policy, and it is worth reading before your pickup day.
We will contact you by email and text before that happens. Please answer, even if the answer is that you need more time. We would much rather solve it with you.
